The Learning Center is excited to offer many programs and services to UNT students. These programs are designed to help you have academic success. Some of the programs we will be offering this fall include:

Learning 101 Series

Learning 101 is a series of 60 minute workshops that aim to help you find the best practices and strategies to be successful students both academically and personally. Each topic covers a different important academic skill. The workshops are interactive and engaging. The topics include Time Management, Learning Styles, Note Taking and Test Taking.

Critical Thinking 

Critical thinking is how you evaluate information for its value, truth and depth, as well as forming opinions and arguments about that information. Critical thinking is a necessary skill to be successful in the classroom and in your future career. This workshop will help you develop basic critical thinking skills.

Academic Success Program

The Academic Success Program is a ninety minute workshop that provides students with the skills and resources needed to be successful in their academic pursuits. Attendance is mandatory for those on Academic Alert (UNT CGPA below 1.8).

Study Skills Lab

The study skills lab is a five week course designed to cover all the major areas of academic success including time management, learning styles, note taking and test-taking. This course is small, and offers individualized instruction. This program costs $20.00 and you must register in the learning center.

Connecting For Success

Struggling to find another Learning Center program that fits your needs? Are you looking for individualized academic support? Then contact us for some one-on-one assistance.

Connecting for Success is designed to:
Facilitate student success in the classroom
Engage students in one-on-one academic coaching
Guide students in developing academic goals and a plan of action to achieve these goals.

Speed Reading

Are you feeling overwhelmed by all the reading required in your courses? Then our Speed Reading class may be just what you need. This course is five weeks long, and space is limited. You must sign up in the Learning Center. The course costs $30.00 and this covers the cost of materials.

The Art of Networking

The art of networking is the art of building relationships and it can impact your financial future! Whether your goal is to find a job, learn more about your career, or find a mentor in your field, building relationships is equally important to these goals.
